Synopsis :


“The Samba within me” is a documentary set on the Mangueira Hill in Rio de Janeiro, during the pre-carnival period. The opening scene is at Estação Primeira de Mangueira (Mangueira Samba School) court, a place where director Georgia Guerra-Peixe is reunited with her own history. At the beginning of the documentary, the director states in the first person, what the carnival always meant to her family, and her life. From the court, she leaves to clim the hill for the first time, moved by the desire to go beyond samba.
